That was fast.
After a vague press release from Apple on Monday, there is now confirmation that Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard will be Intel-only. It’s been rumored for years, and Apple is finally cutting the tether on all those PowerPC-based Macs out there.
Having experienced the transition from 680X0 to PowerPC to Intel, I’m not surprised that there is a lot of griping and grousing. But all good things must end. The transition to Intel began three years ago this month. In computer years, that makes PowerPC Macs almost ancient.
