The nothing to update update

Like the title says, there’s not much to update right now. The semester is winding down, our office is being moved again, and it’s freezing as all get out. (Okay, maybe not as cold as the north east, but cold by California standards.) Add to that the fact that the furnace is broken, and you can imagine the kind of state that I’m in.

Still waiting

Word is leaking out that Google will be taking its Chrome browser out of beta next month. The goal is to start getting the browser pre-installed on computers to increase market share.

In the meantime, there’s still no word on when a Mac version of the browser will be available. Grumble.

Update It looks like Google decided to drop the “beta” from Chrome a lot sooner than anticipated. The 1.0 version of the browser is available today.

Of Obama and Blagojevich

With the Blagojevich scandal now in full swing, it is only natural for the right-wing noise machine to try to make a connection between the embattled Illinois governor and President-elect Barack Obama. Coming from Chicago, they reason, Obama must be somehow connected with Blagojevich, even though the federal prosecutor took extreme measures to point out the the President-elect was not involved.

The best one so far comes from Hugh Hewitt on Townhall.com (originally seen on The Caucus at NYTimes.com):

“And will the new president commit to firing immediately anyone in his Administration implicated in any of the ripples flowing out of the Blagojevich scandals?”

Of course, I seem to remember that President Bush vowed to fire anyone involved with the Plame affair. Yeah, he really followed through on that one.
